Description

Number 19 is a terraced house located in Lincoln's Inn Fields, built in 1868 by Philip Webb. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a slated gabled roof. The building has five storeys, an attic, and a basement, with four windows across its facade. The doorway is topped with a gabled stone hood and has a round-arched entrance, with a moulded architrave leading to a panelled door that includes a fanlight.

The central section of the house has paired sash windows set within a canted stone bay, supported by attached hexagonal columns that rise from the ground to the third floor. These columns support a shaped balcony with a cast-iron balustrade at the fourth floor level. The first floor features a lintel with shallow pediments above each sash window. On either side of the central bay, there are segmental-arched sashes with sill bands that extend across the central bay. The re-entrant angles of the building showcase alternating stone and brick quoins. The fourth floor consists of four segmental-arched windows, with the central pair flanked by brick pilasters that terminate in the gable, which features pediment capitals and a Diocletian window with a moulded brick apron.

Inside, there is no known surviving work from Webb. The property also includes attached cast-iron railings to the areas in front of the house.
