Description
15 and 16 Lincoln's Inn Fields are two terraced houses built around 1742 to 1750. They are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick, featuring stone sill bands and cornices below the parapets. The houses have tiled mansard roofs with dormers and rise to three storeys, with attics and basements, each having three windows.
No. 15 has a wooden doorcase supported by Ionic columns, a pulvinated frieze, and a mutule pedimented cornice, along with a rusticated doorway surround, fanlight, and a panelled door. There is a brick band at the first floor level and gauged flat brick arches above the recessed sash windows.
The interior of No. 15 has not been inspected but is noted to include turned balusters and carved ends on the dog-leg stairs, as well as well-finished panelled rooms, a chimney-piece with caryatids, plaster ceilings, and other features.
No. 16 features a semicircular Doric porch and an arched doorway with a radial fanlight and a panelled door. The first floor windows are architraved.
The interior of No. 16 has not been inspected but is noted to contain some original panelling.
