Description
This is a memorial to WFD Smith, the 2nd Viscount Hambleden, located on a seat pedestal on the north-east side of Lincoln's Inn Fields gardens. It was created around 1929-1930, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, with the bust sculpted by Arthur Walker. The bronze bust is currently missing, having been stolen in the 1970s. The pedestal is made of Portland stone and is designed in the form of a seat. It features an inscribed central panel that provides a biography of Smith, while the rear of the pedestal has a carved coat of arms in the central panel.
