Description
36 and 37 Great Queen Street are two terraced houses. Number 36 dates from the earlier part of the 18th century and has been altered. It features multi-coloured stock brick and a slated roof with dormers behind a parapet. The building has three storeys and an attic, with two windows. There is a 20th-century shopfront in Regency style, and gauged flat arches above the recessed windows, with casements on the first floor and sashes on the second. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to be altered while retaining square balusters and columned newels on a small well staircase, along with some internal panelling above the ground floor.
Number 37 is from the late 17th century and has also been altered. It is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick and has four storeys with four windows and a parapet. The shopfront, dating from the early 19th century, features a diaper pattern cast-iron frieze below a 20th-century fascia that masks the entablature. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to retain a heavy open well staircase with a solid string, turned balusters, square newels, and a moulded handrail.
