Description

Numbers 46, 47, 47A, and 48 are three terraced houses located on Bedford Row in Camden, dating from the late 18th century and altered over time. The buildings are constructed of yellow stock brick and rise to four storeys with basements.

Number 46 features three windows and has a segmental-arched entrance adorned with a keystone, impost blocks, and pilasters framing the door. It includes a patterned radial fanlight above a panelled door. The ground floor has recessed 20th-century sash windows, while the first, second, and third floors have stucco architraved sash windows. There is a stucco band at the first floor and a sill band, with the brickwork in between partly painted. The building is topped with a stucco cornice and blocking course.

Numbers 47 and 47A have two windows each. They feature two wooden doorcases with panelled reveals and carved brackets that support hoods, along with fanlights and panelled doors. Between the doors, there is one recessed sash window with a painted red brick flat arch. A stucco sill band is present at the first floor, and stucco architraved sash windows are found on the first, second, and third floors, with a cornice and blocking course above.

Number 48 has two windows, with a stucco ground floor that includes an arched entrance, fanlight, and panelled door. To the left, there is a recessed 20th-century sash window. The first floor features architraved 20th-century sashes with a wrought-iron balcony, and there is a stone band at the second floor sill level. The second and third floors have 20th-century recessed sashes, and the building is finished with a parapet that has a brick band.

The houses are complemented by attached cast-iron railings with urn finials leading to the areas. Together, numbers 46 to 48 form a group that closes the vista at the south end of the street.
