Description
Conduit Cottage is a semi-detached house located at the rear of No. 95 Heath Street, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick and features an old tiled roof that is half hipped at the west end, along with dormers. The house has two storeys and attics, with three windows. The doorway includes a fanlight and a panelled door, with a 20th-century porch added. The windows are segmental arched, slightly recessed sashes with exposed boxing, and the ground floor has a canted bay window with a cornice. A parapet is present, and there is an original lead rainwater head. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this house functioned as a greengrocer during the 1850s and is depicted in Ford Maddox Brown's painting "Work."
