Description
Elm Lodge is a detached house originally facing New End, built around 1732. It features brown brick with red brick dressings and stands three storeys tall. The north frontage is symmetrical with five windows, including a central projecting entrance bay. The main door, located at the first-floor level, is accessed by twin flights of curved steps with plain rails, which were added around 1930 when the house was divided. The doorway has a square head, a patterned overlight, and a panelled door. There is also a doorway to the old basement, now the ground floor. The house has gauged red brick flat arches and dressings around recessed sash windows, some of which have flush frames and exposed boxing. The outer bays are blind, and there is a central bay on the right-hand return. Plain red brick bands mark the floor levels, and there is a parapet.
The interior has not been inspected but is noted to retain good panelling and a staircase featuring a closed string, carved brackets, twisted balusters, and column newels. The attached garden wall is built in English Bond with brown brick.
