Description
No. 5, Elm Row is a terraced house, dating from circa 1720. It was substantially refaced in the late 19th century by the building firm CB King Ltd, and again in the late 20th century. The house is constructed of red stock brick with red brick dressings and floor bands, and has a tiled mansard roof with three dormers. It is three storeys and has attics, with five windows. The entrance is defined by a 20th-century doorcase with a bracketed hood. A notable feature on the first floor is a window surround in moulded brickwork, incorporating a fleur-de-lys motif above the window. The windows are flush-framed sashes, with gauges to the segmental brick arches and exposed boxing. The interior was not inspected.
