Description
The Courthouse is a building dating from around 1840, located on Queensway in Mildenhall. It is two storeys high and features five windows. The structure is made of gault brick and has parapets, with rusticated stucco quoins and a band at the first floor. A moulded painted stone cornice with stucco bands is present above and below. The first-floor sash windows have flat arches made of gauged brick, while the ground-floor windows have round-arched heads with an architrave and a raised keystone of stucco. The sashes are designed with thick central bars that mimic French windows. A central bay, which is slightly set forward, has stucco rustication up to the first floor and quoins extending to the cornice level. The first-floor window in this bay is recessed between Doric half-columns. The entrance features a pair of three-panelled doors set within a round-arched recess.
