Description

A house dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, situated on King Street in Mildenhall. The building consists of a central block flanked by smaller wings. The main block is five windows wide, with two storeys and attics. It is constructed of gault brick, with parapets and parapet gables, and a string course at the first floor level. A plaitiled gambrel roof slopes to gable ends, and features flat-headed dormers and gable chimneys built of gault brick. The windows are sash windows with flat arches formed of gauged brick, with replacement sashes containing large panes of glass. The main entrance has fluted pilasters and a dentilled pediment, leading to a door with six fielded panels. Each wing is one-and-a-half storeys high with a Flemish parapet gable to the front. Within these gables is a Venetian window set within a shallow round-arched recess, and an entrance doorway, which is identical to but smaller than the main entrance. The left-hand gable hides a 20th-century flat-roofed garage.
