Description

Honington House is a former rectory dating from the 18th century. It is a two-storey building constructed from timber framing and plaster, topped with black glazed pantiled roofs that are fully hipped, featuring wide eaves overhang and a mutule cornice. There is an internal chimney stack with a plain red brick shaft. The front of the house has a two-storey rounded bay and a range of sash windows in flush frames, with all but one having had their glazing bars removed.

At the north-east corner, behind the main front range, there is a two-storey block with a fully hipped roof that appears to be a separate building connected to the main house. This block has small-paned sash windows in flush frames. Inside, the upper rooms feature coved plaster ceilings, and there is a stair wing at the rear that contains an early 19th-century geometrical staircase. One of the ground-floor rooms is octagonal and also has a coved ceiling.

Adjoining the north-east corner of the house is a long stretch of high rubble flint wall with rounded copings and red brick piers. At its western end, this wall forms one side of a range of single-storey outbuildings with clay pantiled roofs that extend from the rear of the house. At the north-east end of the wall, there is a Gothic-style doorway with a pointed head and red brick jambs. The return wall along the east side serves as the boundary between the garden and the school yard and features a similar blocked doorway.
