Description
North Stow Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is two storeys high with attics and features a white brick facade on the east side, while the south and west sides are constructed from random flint with red brick quoins and dressings. The building has a steeply-pitched, fully hipped roof covered with plain tiles.
On the north side, there is a wide lean-to addition that is one and a half storeys tall, topped with a pantiled roof. The farmhouse includes two internal chimney stacks with plain rectangular white brick shafts. The east front, which dates to the early 19th century, showcases two tripartite small-paned sash windows on each storey, with a single small-paned sash window positioned between them on the first storey. There are two flat-headed dormers in the roof slope, each containing two-light casement windows. The central door has six flush panels within a plain surround, with the four upper panels featuring later glazing.
The south side, which is from the 18th century, has a series of small-paned sash windows in flush frames, with gauged brickwork around the surrounds. It also features a white brick dentil cornice and flat-headed dormers. The west side has similar windows and cornice, but the brick dressings are from the mid-19th century. A central door on this side shows the outline of a high arched surround made of stone blocks that are flush with the wall.
