Description
South Lodge is a mid 19th century estate cottage that stands two storeys high and features three windows. It is designed in the Gothick style, constructed with flushed flint and gault brick dressings. The roof is hipped and slated, with a moulded eaves cornice, and a central chimney that was rebuilt in the 20th century using red brick.
The first-floor windows have hood-moulded pointed arched heads made of gauged brick, with Y-mullions and transoms. The casements are fitted with diamond glazing bars, and the spandrels display intersecting tracery. The ground-floor windows have segmental heads and large-pane sash windows. The entrance doorway features a hood-moulded pointed arched head of gauged brick, and the door itself has sunk panels with nail-head enriched framing, along with traceried detailing at the pointed head.
