Description
Building 58 is a bomb inspection building from the former RAF Barnham atomic bomb store. It features a reinforced concrete frame and blockwork walls, which have been over-painted at the east end, and is protected by freestanding blast walls. The building has a rectangular plan, aligned approximately east-west.
On the exterior, there are projecting entrance bays at both the east and west ends, which originally contained airlocks and feature double height steel doors for the movement of bombs. Attached to the north are single storey toilet blocks and a store room, which has had its windows replaced.
Inside, the central section of the building is mostly plain, with the exception of a runway beam that once supported four hoists. The airlocks in the porches have been removed.
