Description
This building at 2 Mill Lane is a house dating from the late 18th century and mid 19th century. It has two storeys, with the main part constructed from timber framing and brick infilling, covered in external render. A later addition at the back is made of red brick. The roofs are covered with black glazed pantiles and feature pierced and fluted barge-boards on all gables, along with a wide eaves overhang on the main range.
On the upper storey, there are three 3-light casement windows, each with transoms and arched Gothic heads; the central window is smaller than the two outer ones. The front entrance consists of a central plank door, flanked by two later 2-light casement windows. Additionally, in the south-east corner where the front and rear ranges meet, there is another entrance that was originally for a separate house, which includes an open timber porch with a tented roof and ornate spandrels between the supporting posts.
