Description
Mill House is a house dating from the 17th century, with a large extension added in the early 19th century. It originally featured a two-cell lobby-entrance plan and is two storeys high. The structure is timber-framed and rendered, topped with a plaintiled roof that has a central 17th-century chimney made of gault brick, which includes three diagonally-set square flues on a plinth with a moulded cornice.
The ground floor has 19th-century small-pane sash windows, while the upper floor features three-light casements. There is a blocked entrance doorway with a semi-circular head. Inside, a late 17th-century staircase is located in a rear wing, showcasing sunk panelled newels, fretted splat-balusters, and a matching dado.
An early 19th-century wing was added at a right angle to the left side of the house. This addition is also timber-framed and rendered, with a hipped slated roof and rear chimneys made of gault brick. The 19th-century French casements in this wing have louvred shutters.
