Description

Neathouse, located immediately to the west of Hall Farmhouse, is a farm building that was likely originally constructed as a granary, but has since been adapted for use with cattle and is now part office and part store. It dates from the 18th century, with some remodelling occurring in the mid-19th century. The building is two storeys high, featuring rubble flint on the west side and knapped flint on the east side, which faces the farmhouse. The upper part of the east wall is made up of large knapped flints arranged with a mix of light and dark surfaces. The structure has red brick dressings and a pantiled roof.

The ground storey has six irregularly spaced window openings, each with rusticated red brick surrounds and slatted external shutters; some of these have 20th-century two-light casements. There are four windows on the upper storey and three stable-type doors. Inside, the building boasts good quality exposed timber ceilings with nine bays, where the joists are set on edge and supported by deep, narrow main beams. This building is included for its group value with Hall Farmhouse.
