Description
No. 90 St John's Street is a house and shop, now functioning as a shop with storage above. It dates from the early 19th century and features a long 20th-century rear extension. The building is timber-framed and rendered, topped with a shallow-pitched slate roof that has a wide eaves overhang at the front and a steeper pitch at the rear. It stands three storeys tall with a cellar. The façade has two window ranges, featuring sashes with a single vertical glazing bar, set within architraves that have projecting hoods and sills supported by console brackets. The ground storey has a 20th-century shop front. Inside, there is no apparent older core. The cellar beneath the front range, which was formerly used as an office, has painted walls made of brick, flint, and stone, along with a fireplace in the north-west corner. There is also a corner fireplace on the first storey. The top storey has a slope towards the rear of the roof and a flush wall at the front.
