Description
The Poplars is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century and was altered in the mid-19th century. It has an L-shaped form and stands two storeys high. The building is timber-framed and rendered, featuring a pantiled roof on the front range. There are two chimney stacks on the rear wall, each with two shafts and attached heads.
At the center of the front is a two-storey gabled porch, with the upper storey jettied and supported on brackets. The ground floor has three-light 19th-century casement windows with a transom, while the upper storey features plain two-light casements set in small projecting square bays, which are bracketed below and have small gablets above. All gables and gablets are adorned with 19th-century finials and pierced and fluted barge-boards. At the rear, there is a long mid-19th-century wing with a slate roof.
