Description
Church House is a former Methodist chapel that was built by the Primitive Methodists around 1820 and extended in the mid-19th century. It stopped being used as a chapel in 1974. The exterior is rendered with a pantiled roof. The center of the building originally housed the chapel, featuring two long small-paned sash windows in flush frames at the front, a small wooden pentice above, and a small hexagonal window. On each side, there are small storeyed blocks that appear to be extensions, which include small-paned cast iron casement windows. On the south side, there is a late 19th-century four-panelled door with fluted panels and a matching cased surround. Since its conversion into a house, the interior, which was previously quite plain, has been enhanced with various Classical and Regency Gothic fittings, including panelling, panelled doors, and a gallery along the west wall of the former chapel area.
