Description
Nos 17 to 19 on High Street are a range of timber-framed houses that likely date back to the 15th or early 16th century, although they have been significantly altered and refronted in the 19th century with white brick. The buildings are two storeys tall and feature a five-window range with double-hung sash windows that have single vertical glazing bars set in chamfered reveals. An ornamental brick string course runs between the storeys. There are two four-panel doors also in chamfered reveals. Number 19 includes a 20th-century shop front. The roof is tiled and adorned with ornamental crest tiles. Inside, some timber-framing remains, and No 18 features a moulded ceiling beam. These houses are part of a group that includes No 15 (The Vicarage), the wall to the Vicarage, No 16 (Galloway House), Nos 17 to 22 (consecutive), No 23 (Church Farmhouse), No 26, and The Parish Church of SS Peter and Paul.
