Description

Nos 20 and 21 High Street are a pair of 16th century timber-framed and plastered houses, featuring a late 15th century wing at the rear of No 20, which is believed to have been the Old Guildhall. The buildings are two storeys tall, with the upper storey jettied at the front on brackets. There are three windows, which are 19th century double-hung sashes with single vertical glazing bars set in cased frames. The doors are from the 20th century. The rear wing has moulded main beams with brackets and shafts, along with a crown post roof. The roofs are tiled. These buildings are part of a group that includes No 15 (The Vicarage), the wall to the Vicarage, No 16 (Galloway House), Nos 17 to 22 (consecutive), No 23 (Church Farmhouse), No 26, and The Parish Church of SS Peter and Paul.
