Description
The Cart Shed at Stansfield Hall is a 18th-century structure that serves as a cartshed with a granary above. It features a weatherboarded timber frame and a half-hipped pantile roof, resting on a brick plinth. The building is two storeys high and has three three-light windows on the side, with a dormer above. The west end has a cartshed opening with a three-light window above it, while the east end has a door with a three-light window above. There is a lean-to at the rear.
Inside, the building showcases heavy tall panel framing and a clasped purlin roof supported by two tiers of purlins. Heavy knuckle braces provide support for the granary floor. This cartshed and granary has undergone minor alterations and is part of a well-preserved farmstead group that includes a large aisled barn and a small aisled barn at Stansfield Hall.
