Description
The Small Aisled Barn at Stansfield Hall is a barn dating from the 16th century, with repairs from the 17th century and alterations made in the 20th century. It features a weatherboarded timber frame and a corrugated sheet mansard roof, sitting on a brick plinth. There is a raised doorway on the east elevation.
Inside, the barn retains much of its 16th-century structure, including ties and tall panel framing, with later 17th-century repairs. The arcade posts are jowled, and there is bracing from the arcade posts to the underside of the arcade ties and plates. This barn is part of a significant farmstead group that includes a large aisled barn and a cartshed and granary at Stansfield Hall, and it preserves a considerable amount of its original framing.
