Description
Elm Hall is a 15th to 16th century moated farmhouse that features a timber frame with brick nogging. The building includes a cross wing at the north end, which has a jettied upper storey. Although it underwent extensive restoration in the 20th century, the work was well executed and much of the original character has been preserved. The windows consist of mullioned casements, some with transoms, and feature lattice leaded lights. While some of the window frames are original, others are reproductions. The cross wing also has a wood arched doorway. The roof is tiled and includes one brick chimney stack with an octagonal shift. Inside, the farmhouse showcases exposed timber framing, beams, and joists, along with Jacobean doors and remnants of a Jacobean staircase.
