Description

No. 61 Abbeygate Street is a shop that was originally a shop and house, built around 1840. It features a white brick exterior and a slate roof, standing three storeys high with a cellar. The building has a three-window range with 12-pane sash windows set in deep reveals, each topped with flat arches and stone sills. Below the first storey windows, there is a plain raised stucco band. The shop has heavy ornate console brackets that relate to the former fascia, while the current shop front is a plain design from the 20th century. This building is included for its group value as part of the overall street scene.
