Description
A group of five churchyard monuments located in the Great Churchyard of Bury St Edmunds.
MON 186 is a headstone made of Ketton stone, dated 1798, commemorating Hannah Hayward (1798) and Fanny Hayward (1816). It is a plain but well-crafted monument. MON 187 consists of a coffin stone with a headstone and footstone, dated 1840, dedicated to Hannah Hayward and Robert Hayward, both from 1840.
MON 189 is an 18th-century headstone for members of the Lockwood family, featuring three winged angel heads on its east face. MON 206 is a headstone made of York stone, dated 1802, honoring W. Debenham (1802) and Ann Debenham (1803). It has a double inscription panel and is adorned with two winged angel heads alongside a tomb that displays a skull, scythe, and hourglass on top.
Finally, MON 207 is a coffin-shaped ledger with a headstone and footstone from the early 19th century, made of Ketton stone, although it has no remaining inscription. The headstone features two winged angel heads and a double inscription panel, while the footstone displays a winged angel head and drapes.
