Description
This listing describes a group of four churchyard monuments located in the Great Churchyard of Bury St Edmunds.
The first monument, MON 153, is an early 19th-century headstone made of Ketton stone. It features a winged skull with crossed palms and an hourglass, but has no inscription. The second monument, MON 161A, is also an early 19th-century headstone of Ketton stone, showcasing two large winged angel heads and lacking any inscription.
MON 162, another early 19th-century headstone made of Ketton stone, includes a double inscription panel framed by flower festoons, topped with two winged angel heads that flank a central Eye of God. Lastly, MON 176 is a headstone dating from 1799, made of Ketton stone, dedicated to a person with the surname Wood. It features two winged angel heads flanking a pyramid, with an inscription panel resembling a sarcophagus with feet.
