Description

A pair of churchyard monuments located in Bury St Edmunds.

MON 214 is a coffin stone with a headstone and footstone, dating from 1789, made of Ketton stone. It commemorates M.W. from 1789 and I.W. from 1800. Both the headstone and footstone feature fluted tops and initials.

MON 215 is an early 19th-century headstone, also made of Ketton stone, which displays an unusual batwinged skull.

MON 218 is a headstone from 1803 dedicated to William Holywood. This headstone features a sword and scabbard crossed under a plumed shako, with a pistol positioned beneath.
