Description
This is a row of 10 cottages located at 34-52 Out Westgate in Bury St Edmunds, dating from the early 19th century, although they were not all built at the same time. The walls are constructed from a random mixture of rubble flint and red brick headers, with red brick surrounds around the windows and doorways, and the roofs are covered with plain tiles.
In terms of exterior features, No. 34 is two stories tall and has a higher roofline than the other cottages. Nos. 36-46 have one story with attics, while Nos. 48, 50, and 52 are single-story. There are six chimney stacks with plain red brick shafts; all are internal except for No. 34, which has an end stack. The ground-floor windows, which have segmental-arched heads, are all blocked. Nos. 36-46 feature flat-headed dormers with rendered cheeks and 2-light casement windows. No. 34 has two sash windows on the upper story, each with two vertical glazing bars per light, set in plain reveals. There are ten plain doors in total. The interior has not been inspected.
