Description

No. 27 High Street is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. It features a three-cell cross-passage entrance plan and stands two storeys tall. The building is timber-framed but is encased in late 19th-century red brick, which has shallow pilasters that divide the facade into five bays. The roof is slated and has an axial chimney made of red brick. The windows are late 19th-century sashes with border panes, and there are plastered or painted stone lintels with raised keystones. The entrance has two 4-panelled doors from the 19th century. The interior is believed to have well-preserved exposed timber-framing.
