Description

Ash Tree Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, built in two phases, with a later 19th-century service wing added to the south. The construction is timber-framed and plastered, with a roof covered in concrete pantiles. The farmhouse has two storeys and a three-cell layout, featuring three mid-20th century windows with single panes. A 20th-century boarded door provides access. An internal stack is present, with a mid-20th century shaft. The service wing extends along the rear, constructed of red brick with a clay pantile roof. It features two storeys and original windows and a door, all with segmental arches, and a gable stack.

Inside, the hall contains a bridging beam with barred stop-chamfers. One side of the hall's joists have shallow-moulded soffits, while the other are chamfered. Plain joists are located at the service end. A cased floorbeam is found in the parlour. Only the main structural elements of the timber frame are visible on the upper floor. The house retains a good original newel stair. The roof timbers were renewed around 1960.
