Description
Benningham Hall is a manor farmhouse, primarily dating from the 16th century, with a rear wing that features a prominent plaster date of 1719, likely indicating a period of alteration. The building is timber framed, with the front facade displaying mid-20th century panelled plasterwork and pargetted infill. The gable ends and rear of the structure are roughcast-rendered, while the main rear wing is plastered. The roofs are covered with pantiles, and one section at the rear has glazed black tiles. The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic and has a three-cell, lobby entry main range, with additional work at the rear creating an L-shaped plan. Most windows are 19th century small-paned casements, with 19th century sash windows featuring glazing bars on the right-hand side, where the upper window is half-height. There is a mid-20th century porch with a hipped roof and a semi-glazed double door. An internal stack retains its original oblong shaft. The interior has not been examined. Notably, there are substantial remains of a medieval moat surrounding the property.
