Description
White House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th to 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a slated roof. The building features pierced bargeboards and has two storeys plus an attic. There are four windows, with two on each side of the porch; the pair on the left are widely spaced and consist of 6-paned sashes in flush frames. The ground floor windows are adorned with console-bracketed cornices. To the left, there are 20th-century French windows set within a 19th-century surround, which also has a bracketed cornice.
To the right of the centre is a two-storey porch made of white brick, dating from the early to mid-19th century. This porch has clasping pilaster strips that extend above the parapet, and a pedimented parapet at the front and sides. The doorway features fluted pilasters and an entablature, with a four-panel door that has glazed upper panels. Above the door is an inset sash window set under a flat brick arch. The farmhouse has two internal stacks, with the white brick shafts likely being contemporary with the porch. There are also rear additions, mostly from the 19th century. The interior has not been examined.
