Description

This range of farm buildings, located 50 meters north-northwest of Harleston Hall, was constructed in 1879, as indicated by plaques on the building. Designed in the estate style of Great Finborough Hall, the single-storey structures primarily serve as stabling and housing for livestock. The buildings are made of red brick, featuring quoins, dressings, and decorative elements of gault brick. They have plaintiled roofs with parapet gables made of limestone, which are topped with spiked ball finials, many of which are decayed or missing.

At the center of the main north-south range, there is a set-forward block with a loft above. This block has a Flemish gable adorned with a weathervane shaped like a fox. A circular window provides light to the loft, and beneath it are limestone plaques displaying the initials C.T. on the left and the date 1879 on the right. The entrance features a 4-centred arched doorway flanked by small windows and a cantilevered hipped plaintiled canopy.

Flanking this central block are two 7-bay ranges, which have piers at regular intervals and a dentil course beneath the eaves. Each bay displays a pattern of crosses and diamonds. A corner block at the north end is taller and topped with a gabled timber-framed louvre. The range extends westward for 25 meters, where it features a gateway covered by an open gable. The gates are framed with diagonal boarding, and there are two set-back bays on either side.

On the west and south sides facing the farmyard, the walling is primarily timber-framed and boarded. Additional buildings on this side are not of special interest, although they are attached. Great Finborough Hall is listed separately under Finborough C.P.
