Description
Hall Cottages consists of two houses built as one in the mid-16th century. The cottages are one storey high with attics and feature a three-cell cross-entry plan. They are constructed from timber framing and plaster, topped with a pantiled roof that was originally thatched, and has half-hips at both ends. There is an axial chimney made of 19th-century red brick. The cottages have two 20th-century raking dormers with casements, as well as 20th-century casement windows. The entrances are marked by two boarded doors from the 19th century. The exposed framing showcases closely spaced studwork, with corner base crucks supporting the half-hip at the right-hand end, and likely also at the left. The roof is probably of the coupled-rafter type, with purlins added later.
