Description
Amara Tam and Brome Villa is a former farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. The building consists of two sections: the left section, known as Amara Tam, dates back to the 16th century and was modernised in the mid-20th century. The right section, Brome Villa, is likely older but has undergone alterations. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, with roofs primarily covered in pantiles; Amara Tam features double Roman tiles on the front slope.
The building is two storeys high, with part of it having an attic. Amara Tam includes mid-20th century casement windows and a boarded door. In the gable end, there are two original windows with cavetto mullions, and a gable stack is located at the junction with the adjacent range. Inside, there is good closely-spaced studding and exposed chamfered-joist ceilings, along with a roof that has one row of clasped purlins. Brome Villa features 19th century casement windows and a boarded door with two glazed panels, as well as small drip moulds above the ground floor openings. An 18th century external stack is present against the gable end, while the timbers inside are largely concealed.
