Description
The Old Rectory is a former rectory built in 1819 by William Brown of Ipswich for the Reverend C. Davy. It is constructed of gault brick and features a limestone string course beneath the first-storey windows. The building has a hipped slated roof with a wide eaves overhang and consists of two storeys above a basement, with five windows. The windows are small-pane sashes set within flat arches of gauged brick. The central entrance bay is designed as a portico in antis, supported by giant Tuscan columns and topped with a pediment that has a moulded wooden cornice. The entrance includes a pair of three-panelled doors and a semi-circular fanlight with radial bars. Inside, there is an octagonal entrance hall featuring a geometric staircase.
