Description

Bungeons Farmhouse is a mid-16th century farmhouse with alterations from the 17th century. It is a 2-storey, 3-cell cross-passage plan building. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, featuring extensive, albeit decayed, cable-pattern pargeting. The roof is thatched with an axial chimney constructed of red brick. The windows are a mix of 19th and 20th century casements, some with small panes. The entrance is a boarded door with a 20th-century gabled porch covered in plaintiled tiles and supported by wooden posts. The original farmhouse is characterised by heavy, unmoulded framing and a crownpost roof. A substantial chimney, incorporating back-to-back lintelled open fireplaces, was added to the original parlour in the late 17th century, along with a larger parlour block to the right-hand side. A single-storey extension to the left is likely of similar date.
