Description

RATTLESDEN POY STREET GREEN TL 95 NE 3/110 Bressumer Cottage - - II Cottage; C16 in 2 stages, extended in late C18. One storey and attics. Originally of 2-cell plan, extended to right in C18. Timber-framed and plastered. Thatched roof with two eyebrow casement dormers. An axial chimney of red brick. Casements of c.1980. To left is a C20 hipped entrance porch with boarded door. To right is a single-storey C20 extension with flat roof. Two cells of a single-storey C16 house of unusually small proportions: in late C16 or early C17 an upper floor was inserted, the binding beam projecting through the front and back walls. Unchamfered floor joists, widely-spaced studding and clasped purlin roof. In late C18 the chimney was rebuilt, with a lintelled open fireplace in the hall, and a further cell was added beyond it. Included despite C20 remodelling as an unusual survival of a small C16 cottage.
