Description
The Redlingfield War Memorial is a war memorial erected in 1920, after the First World War. It is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Andrew, just to the north-east of the church. The memorial is made from Portland stone and features a Celtic cross atop a tapering shaft, which rests on a trapezoidal plinth and a square base. It stands approximately 2.4 meters high. The east face of the shaft has an inscription in incised and painted lettering that reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THOSE OF THIS PARISH WHO HAVE SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR KING & COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918." Additionally, the names of ten community members who lost their lives are inscribed on the east face of the plinth.
