Description
This is a barn located immediately northeast of Wash Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century and later. It is constructed with a timber frame, mostly covered in weatherboarding, while the upper parts of some walls are plastered. The roof is primarily covered with pantiles, except for the porch, which features double Roman tiles. The barn consists of four bays, with a cart entrance located in the second bay from the north end, accompanied by a gabled porch on the west side. The frame has undergone significant alterations and includes some reverse-curved braces. The south bay is a later addition that was once floored over, with the axial bridging beam still in place. The roof is a clasped-purlin type and has been heavily rebuilt. Inside, there is a good herringbone brick threshing floor. This barn is included for its group value with the farmhouse.
