Description
This barn, located about 35 meters north-north-east of Broomhills, dates from around 1700 and was extended in the 18th century. It features a timber frame built on a brick base and is weatherboarded, topped with a steeply pitched corrugated sheet roof. The barn consists of seven bays and has central double doors leading to the yard, with a gabled midstrey from the 18th century opposite. There are additional doors on the front left and left end, and a lean-to shed is attached to the right of the midstrey at the rear. Inside, the barn has full-height studding with through tension bracing, jowled posts with straight arched braces to the tie beams (some of which have been removed), and a double staggered tenoned purlin roof with collars to the principals, which has been partially renewed. The midstrey features similar construction.
