Description
The barn at Broomells Farm is a 16th-century structure. It features a timber frame built on a brick plinth, with weatherboard cladding and a plain tiled roof. The barn consists of three framed bays and has large, jowled main posts that frame opposing central entries. There is a pentice extension on the right side. Inside, the barn has arched bracing on the wall frames, with the end frame to the right dating from the 18th century and part of the 19th century, featuring some whitewashed brick. The roof is a queen-strut design, with replaced collar purlins in the outer bays and struts supporting the through-purlins on the sides. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear that is not of particular interest.
