Description
Bullenhall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1600. It has a three-cell plan and was originally built with a cross-passage entrance, but it has since been altered to a lobby-entrance form. The building is two storeys high with attics and is constructed of timber framing with rough-cast render. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features a central 17th-century chimney made of red brick, which was recapped in the 20th century.
The farmhouse has late 19th-century to early 20th-century casement windows with three lights. There is a 20th-century gabled entrance porch that includes a pair of half-glazed panelled doors. Inside, there are back-to-back open fireplaces in the hall and parlour, with the parlour featuring a plastered ovolo-moulded arched opening. The internal framing is exposed, showing evidence of unglazed and shuttered windows. The roof structure includes a butt purlin design with heavy principal rafters.
A rear outshut was added in the 18th or 19th century, and a staircase wing was added to this outshut in the 20th century.
