Description
Rutters Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 17th century. It features a rendered timber frame, with part of the ground floor underbuilt in brick. The roof is covered with plaintiles and has brick stacks at both ends. The house has a three-unit central staircase plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. The front has a two-window range of two-light casements above three-light casements, a central glazed door, and a gabled porch. There are additional single- and two-light casements on the sides and a single-storey extension on the right side. At the rear, an outshut conceals a diamond mullion window from the former rear wall. Inside, part of the frame is visible, featuring jowled posts and stop-chamfered spine beams. The roof includes butt purlins and coupled rafters. A house named 'Rutters' is indicated on a map from 1634 at this location.
