Description
Nos. 51, 53, and 55 on The Street in Bramford are three houses that were originally one structure. They date from the mid-16th century and have undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The houses are likely designed in a three-cell lobby-entrance plan and stand two storeys tall. They feature a timber-framed and plastered exterior, topped with a plaintiled roof and axial chimneys made of red brick. The windows are a mix of 19th and 20th-century small-pane casements, with No. 51 having a window that includes hinged and boarded shutters. The entrance doors are also from the 19th and 20th centuries and are boarded. No. 51 has been extended to the left and is underbuilt in painted brick from the 19th century. Inside, there is good unmoulded framing visible, and Nos. 53 and 55 contain open fireplaces that date from the 16th or 17th century, although they have been altered over time.
