Description
Millbank is a house located on Bramford Mill Lane, with a core dating from the mid-18th century and significant alterations made in the early and late 19th century. The building is two storeys high, constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, while the front elevation is encased in gault brick from the early 19th century. It features three windows across the front, with shallow corner pilasters. The roof is hipped and slated, with internal chimneys made of gault brick. The sash windows, likely from the mid-18th century, have moulded cast iron lintels and small-pane sashes dating to around 1840. The entrance door, which has six panels, is from the early 19th century and is recessed between reeded pilasters. Above the door, well-carved console brackets from the mid-18th century support a shallow pediment. At the rear, one sash window retains its thick glazing bars from the mid-18th century. To the left of the entrance, there is a one-storey wing that projects forward, built around 1900 in gault brick. Historical records suggest that a new building was constructed on this site in 1754, which may also correspond to the date of the entrance gates to the property.
