Description
This granary and cartlodge, aligned east to west, is located 30 meters north of Holyoak Farmhouse and likely dates from the late 18th century, incorporating many 17th-century components. The structure consists of three bays and is timber-framed with weatherboarding. It has a corrugated iron roof that was originally thatched. There are three pairs of boarded doors from the 19th or 20th century. The building features massive oak main beams and posts, which are well-formed and originally had heavy arch-bracing, but now have bolted knees. The upper floor is of good quality, with oak joists set on edge. The primary-braced studding supports a two-tier 18th-century butt-purlin roof with rafter-braces. There are also 19th-century grain bins still in place.
