Description

A former farmhouse, now divided into two dwellings, dating back to the late 16th century, with additions from the 17th century. The building comprises three sections: a main range, and two wings set forward. The left wing abuts the gable end of the main range, linked by a small addition, and likely extended further to the rear at one point. The main range originally continued further to the right. The structure is timber-framed, primarily with roughcast rendering, and has a pantiled roof. It is two storeys high. Most windows are 20th-century casements, largely of mullion and transom design. A plank door is located in a cross-entry to the left of the main range. The gable end of the left wing features a 20th-century gabled porch and a boarded door. A substantial rendered axial stack is present on the left wing, and there is an internal stack in the main range. Inside, the ground floor of the main range contains a 17th-century plaster ceiling, with Fleur-de-lys motifs in each of the four panels, along with a central Tudor rose, all bearing 19th or 20th-century colouring. The room to the right of the stack has plain, flat joists. The left wing boasts on-edge joists, exposed first-floor framing with curved braces, and an oak newel stair. Exposed framing is visible on the upper floor of the right wing; however, one side and much of the roof were renewed in the mid-20th century.
